我们都早早就学过skin作为人的皮肤的意思，形容某个人的皮肤就会用到dark/fair/pale/tanned skin暗黑／白皙／苍白／棕褐色的皮肤
但除了人有皮之外，其实水果蔬菜动物也都有皮那么描述它们的皮我们都会用到哪些词呢？
skin个词最常见，意思也较多，我们先从词典上一一认识一下

这么看来我们生活中大部分的皮都可以用skin来描述，但是也有一些特殊情况的需要我们用到另外的词，比如说
peel
the skin of fruit and vegetables, especially after it has been removed（尤指水果和蔬菜被削掉的）外皮
apple peel苹果皮potato peel土豆皮What shall I do with the peel?这些皮我该如何处理？

zest
the skin of an orange, lemon, or lime, used to add flavour to food(用于调味的)橘皮，柠檬皮，橙皮
grated lemon zest磨碎的柠檬皮rind /ra?nd/ the hard outer layer or covering of particular fruits and foods(某些水果或食物的)外皮，外壳，硬皮
lemon/orange rind柠檬/橘子皮bacon/cheese rind培根/芝士皮

它们之间有什么区别？
区别不是特别大。只有当遇到特性特别明显时，你需要注意区分。
当我们把某种皮当作调味料来说时，就用zest。
Peel常指柑橘类、香蕉等的皮。橘子皮，柠檬皮，香蕉皮、苹果皮的皮都可以用peel。指可以削或者可以剥的皮。Peel也可作动词，意思是“使水果或者蔬菜的皮与本身分离”，不能用在动物上。
Rind描述皮时则指那些较厚较坚硬的皮或者壳，像是西瓜的皮。它也经常与芝士和肉搭配。
Skin作为名词时可以用在蔬菜，某些水果，当然还有人和动物身上的。
