no后面接名词时，名词前不可以连用不定冠词，即使其后接是单数名词也是如此――因为 no 相当于 not a 或 not any。如：
There’s no present where there’s no money. 没有钱就没有礼物。
There is no language on earth that is completely universal. 世界上没有一种各地可以完全通用的语言。
另外，若是后接复数名词或不可数名词，更不可能后接不定冠词。如：
I make no claims to originality. 我不敢说是自己的独创。
There is no entrance fee to the museum. 博物馆免费开放。
There were no cars coming the opposite way. 没有车从对面开过来。
请看以下正误句：
我不相信有鬼。世界上没有这种东西。
正: I do not believe in ghosts. There’s no such thing.
误: I do not believe in ghosts. There’s no such a thing.
事实上，no修饰名词时，不仅不能连用不定冠词，而且也不能连用指示代词、物主代词以及any, some, every等词。但是，若语义需要，它可与数字或other连用。如：
No two faces are exactly the same. 没有两张脸是完全一样的。
No other man could do it. 没有别的人能做它。
We have no other choice. 我们没有别的选择。
