tight的基本意思是“牢的,紧的,不松动的,难解开的”,指紧紧地绕住某种东西或把某物紧紧地束在一起; 形容一种构造时可指其各个部分紧紧地联系在一起,可译作“紧密结合的,不漏的,不透的”,还可指人被困于绝境或“小气的,吝啬的”。

tight也可表示“绷紧的,拉紧的”“紧密的,密集的”“势均力敌的”“(银根)紧的,难借得到的”“喝醉的”等。

tight在句中可用作定语、表语或宾语补足语。用作表语时其后可接介词短语或that从句。

在美国口语中, tight还可用作名词,意思是“困难的处境”。例如:He will work much harder when he gets in a tight.他遇到困难时会更加努力工作。

tight也可作“彻底地,好好地”解,是非正式用法。
