vt.
Her success as an actress was now assured.
They tried to assure him of their willingness to work.
I can assure you that your son will be happy here.
They were assured that everything possible was being done.
I am assured of his honesty. I am assured that he is honest.不可以直接说I assure his honesty。
涉及到“保险”时,我们习惯用insure,而不是assure,如insure her car。不过assure也有指“保险”的意思,如assure her life指“为她保人寿险”;
His work assured him a degree of happiness. His work ensured him a degree of happiness.
I assure they'll be perfectly safe withus.正:I assure you〔her〕 they'll be perfectlysafe with us.
