differ的基本意思是指种类、性质、意见上不一致,有差异或持异议。
differ是不及物动词,常接不同介词表示各种附加意义。接介词about〔on〕可表示对某问题有异议; 接in可表示在某方面有异议; 接with则表示“不同意(某人)或某种意见”。
differ通常不用于进行体,但在表示习惯性场合下可以用,与一般现在时相比时,意思相差不大,仅仅感情有别。例如: He is always differing with his classmates.He often differs with his classmates.前者带有感情,后者是客观陈述,无个人情绪在内。
